Red Eggs & Ginger

What a weekend! My grandparents and great grandparents hosted my Red Egg & Ginger party this weekend at Chef Chu's in Los Altos...Chef Chu must be important because he has his own website...

...It is pretty neat tradition. I got all deck out in my red dress and I wore a very special gold bracelet that one of my great grandmas got for me. Grandpa Lum gave a speech about the day I was born and then we feasted on food, 8 courses in total! The highlight was the first course - dye red eggs (boiled) with pickle ginger. The combination of the two signifies health & fertility for the family. Dad was suppose to roll an egg around my head for luck but everyone decided that I looked too cute to be putting food in my hair so we are going to save that for my 1st birthday cake!

My other highlight of the party was afterwards when I was talking to Grandpa Lum. He told me that he had a Red Egg and Ginger party when he was my age and his was hosted by his grandparents. I guess that means one day when I am grandma and I need to pay the favor forward and host a Red Egg and Ginger bash for my grandkids...wow, that is a lot of pressure!

Here a few pics of the party!

My first flight...

Got to go on my first plane ride this weekend...Los Angeles to San Jose for my Red Egg & Ginger party (LAX to SJC in airplane talk)...Mom and dad had to check a bunch of bags (mostly my stuff), but I told them not to worry, as long as they stay close to me they could cut through most of the long lines...
